Innanzitutto grazie all’utente che ha postato su YT quest’album. Chi volesse leggere/scaricare i testi, cosa che consiglio vivamente, li può trovare su questa pagina web. La mia opinione su quest’album può essere condensata in 10 lettere: entusiasmo assoluto per la musica, ancor più per i testi. Per quanto riguarda la solita vecchia polemica sul fatto che una band che si dichiara anarchica o comunque “contro il sistema” non dovrebbe mai firmare un contratto con una major discografica, non ho un’opinione netta o definitiva sulla questione, anche se tendenzialmente sono disposto ad accettare la spiegazione fornita da Justin Sane, chitarrista e voce della band, in un’intervista del 2006 al quotidiano inglese The Guardian:

“We’ve been approached by the major labels over the past seven or eight years but we thought we were having an impact where we were. They were never willing to give us complete control. This time they were willing to give us complete control over what we record, the artwork, who we tour with. We won’t be censored. If there was ever a time to take a chance to be heard on a mass scale then this is the time. I feel like we’ve been a voice in the wilderness for too long.”
Che poi, il loro rapporto con una major (RCA Records) è durato solo un paio d’anni e i soldi guadagnati dall’impennata di vendite dei due album pubblicati con tale etichetta sono serviti agli Anti-Flag per fondare un’associazione no-profit (Military Free Zone) contro la propaganda militarista nelle scuole statunitensi tesa al reclutamento nell’esercito degli studenti.
